Le Point d'Orgue-Chêne Marchand

Appellation : Sancerre blanc
Domaine Bailly-Reverdy

Bailly-reverdy-vins-de-sancerre-blanc-rouge-roseArea : 0,70 hectare

Grape variety : Sauvignon Blanc

Soil : Pebbly limestone
This wine is made from a selection of plots of 0.70 hectare, planted on one of the most beautiful terroirs of Sancerre, facing due south in the village of Bué :“Le Chêne Marchand”.

Vinification :
The grapes are hand-picked, carefully sorted and transferred, whole, to the pneumatic press. After cold settling, the indigenous fermentation and the ageing of wine during 12 month starts, in 228 and 500 litres oak barrels. In order to avoid denaturing the aromas of the Sauvignon using new barrels only, we prefer using a varying percentage of “fûts d'un vin”, or “one year old barrels”, depending on the vintage, to allow this “cuvée” to be the free expression of a terroir.

Characteristics :

Very nice bright colour, pale yellow with pale green highlights. A lovely complex and delicate nose, both fruity ( citrus fruit) and floral ( lilac, honeysuckle), slightly oaky. It's very fresh in the mouth, with a persistence of flavours. This wine has a nice substance, some presence. A lovely sructure and the maturing in wood barrels brings extra discreet toast and brioche notes, that fully integrate with the typical terroir aromas. Beautiful finish. This wine should be decanted to exhale all its aromas.

Ageing Potential :
Our white Sancerre wine “Point d'Orgue”, will reach its peak from 12 to 24 months after the harvest and you'll enjoy it all through the ageing.
